Tips on how to keep your dishwasher clean
Cleaning your dishwasher almost seems like an oxymoronic thing to do. After all – a dishwasher is an appliance designed to clean things! However, this is actually far from the truth as wear and tear, debris, grease and the like can build up and create a variety of issues for your dishwasher – from performance issues to actual malfunctions.
Regular maintenance of your dishwasher can not only keep it running smoothly, but provide you with an appliance that lasts longer and helps you get more value from your investment. Today, we’re going to share a few tips to help keep your dishwasher cleaner and working the way it’s intended. Let’s jump right in!
Scrape food off your plates
Don’t throw dishes with food and other food bits on the plates into your dishwasher without cleaning them off, first. Not only will this lead to cleaner dishes, but it’ll prevent food debris from building up at the bottom of the dishwasher and potentially causing issues.
Don’t overcrowd your dishwasher
While it’s certainly tempting to load up your dishwasher – overcrowding can cause issues. Not only will this result in poorly washed dishes, but can also cause you to have to run repeat cycles. Repeat cycles can lead to a lot of residual wear and tear on your dishwasher’s components – leading to issues in the future.
Use rinse aids
If you’re going to purchase soap for your dishwasher – make sure that it comes with some sort of rinse aid. White vinegar can work as well. This will make sure that your washer rinses foods and debris efficiently and causes less wear and tear on your appliance.
Run empty cycles with vinegar
Running an empty cycle with vinegar only can help clean out old food bits and debris from your dishwasher. In addition, it’ll also help to decompose some of the leftover food bits that might be hitchhiking at the bottom of your appliance. Running this cycle and emptying the drain filter will leave your dishwasher looking and smelling clean!
If you use these tips, you’ll have a cleaner, more efficient and longer lasting dishwasher. If you’re still experiencing issues or are in need of repairs for your appliances, give us a call today and we’ll be happy to provide you with a free consultation. Until then, good luck!
